Chopstick Snails (Stenomelania torulosa) are excellent scavengers and substrate sifters with unique, spike-shaped shells. Though they are native to the warm Sulawesi lake system of Indonesia, they can thrive in lower water temperatures than many other Sulawesi animals. These prime aquarium snails are very slow and spend most of their time climbing aquarium terrain and burrowing in the substrate. They are great at keeping your gravel or aquarium soil naturally aerated and free of biofilm and es that build up within it, and they can do this without harming aquarium roots or anchors. Feeding and care is very easy for the hardy Chopstick Snail, so it makes a great candidate for a first aquarium and beginner aquarium keepers. It requires the same maintenance and conditions as most tropical aquarium snails. It will eat nearly any high-quality dry and frozen foods, but it will also feed heavily on biofilm and decaying matter in the aquarium.
