Specific Application
I used the Rockford Fosgate R14X2 (4” speakers) in a set of antique drive-in speakers due to needing a specific size and I wanted a semi quality speaker. (Yes they’re already considered antique at 45-65 years old to you folks that grew up with them)I am by no means a speaker expert, but overall, these sound relatively no different to the 4” speakers originally installed in my drive-in speakers, but with the added upgrade of no paper and updated speaker technology. They don’t really seem to have any bass, and they are a little tinny sounding alone, but when they are paired with larger or base speakers, they seem to work well as tweeters.Keep in mind, other reviews describe them as not very durable and not lasting long, but I have not used them very long yet, nor do I plan to blast these speakers on full volume constantly, so I can’t vouch on that matter yet. They were packaged very well in the original box, and very straightforward to use and set up. I was testing them after installing them into my drive-in speakers within 5-10 minutes of opening the box. Although, if you were expecting the speakers to come with the wires shown in the pictures, it does not come with any wires, only the speakers, grills, screws, and clips nuts.Overall, they seem to be great speakers if you’re limited on size, as am I, and alright with them being a little tinny or having no bass.

Great sound for a 4" speaker
Great sound for a 4" speaker. I chose them for the fact that the faceplate screws on and cannot fall off from riding around in my old 4x4.

*DIY AUDIO PLEASE READ* Highest Build Quality, NOT GOOD FOR BOOMBOX
Really good speakers for the price and size. You wouldn't expect such a heavy weight or large magnet for a driver of this size.NOTE FOR BOOMBOX OR SPEAKER PROJECT PEOPLE:The frequency response of this speaker goes to as low as 100hz, it's problematic because all the good bass ranges are between 11hz and ~90hz.The resonant frequency of this speaker is also 133.5hz, meaning that you will only get the higher, punchy, thumps of the bass but no real bass. This is good for Car Doors because the whole inside of the car is used as the "instrument" to deliver the bass throughout the vehicle. The treble is much harsher than the bass so you really need to use a tone control or some equalizer. ( Either in your phones like Viper4Android or PC Equalizer Software)These are speakers designed for something different than boombox or bookshelf style. If you want to use these speakers for car doors, etc.... GO AHEAD AND USE EM! THEY ARE REALLY GOOD!tl;dr they are good speakers that work reliably and have great frequency response, but if you want to use them as a stereo home entertainment speaker, it will be significantly more difficult to do so compared to their intended automotive design. Overall, you would have to design a box that doesn't work well for this style speaker, and certain ranges will sound really harsh without extensive modification and research.Theile/Small Properties of these speakers---------------------------------------------------------------Response Via Email(Brian Pasecky) - 11/15/2016 02:05 PMQES: 1.59QMS: 5.14Mms (g): 6.0BL(T*M): 3.07Rms(kg/s): 1.0Cms(mm/N): .24

one good one bad
Bought these for an up2stream setup. One of the speakers sounds great as I would expect from Rockford Fosgate speakers, the other has a slight buzz in it. I can only hear it on certain songs and sometimes only during certain parts of a song but the buzz is there. Unplugged the speaker that had the buzz and replayed areas of songs I heard the buzz and nothing. Swapped channels to verify that it was in fact the speaker and the buzz follows the speaker not the channel it's plugged into. Really wanted to give this a five star review, but one of the speakers is useless with the buzzing.

Perfect project speakers
Very nice little speakers, especially for the price. I actually used these for a custom boom box project not a car so my experience with them may be a little different. So long story short I was a bit tired of all of the overpriced under powered Bluetooth speakers out there so I decided to make my own. I used a Lepai Tripath amp, an 8ah 12V SLA battery, an inexpensive Bluetooth receiver, and various other connecters and wires installed in an old ammo can to build my little boom box. The final result is awesome. It gets super loud and clear with these speakers. They don't put out much low end but honestly what can you expect from a 4" speaker in a steel box. Overall I am very happy with these, the quality is top notch especially considering how inexpensive they were. I am actually considering buying more of these to put in my car now. The stock speakers aren't bad but I have a feeling that these would still be a noticeable improvement. I would recommend these to anyone I know. Discerning audiophiles would probably hate these I'm sure, but for the average Joe on a budget these are a great buy.
