Wow..Great Price..Quick Delivery
I have a Direct TV DVR receiver and the Guide button on my orignal remote broke off. I saw this remote on Amazon and was very skeptical about ordering it since the cost was only $0.92, but I figured I would take a chance. I ordered two of these remotes, total cost with shipping was $9.79!I ordered this product on Dec 2nd, arrived Dec 8th US Postal service. The remote is identical to my orignal remote. I put two AA baterries in, pressed PWR button and my DTV DVR powered off and back on.I slid the function switch to TV and pressed the channel up button, and the DTV receiver dispalyed a message to telling me to program the TV functions on the remote. First, using the Channel button, scroll down to find your brand of TV and press the Select button. I have a Visio XVT TV, which had 5 possible codes displayed on the screen, and of course it was the last code listed. To program the remote, simply hold the mute and select buttons down for about two seconds until the green LED light above the TV label flashes twice, then enter the 5 digit code. Try the volume key, if the code is correct, your volume will change and you are done.I also discovered that I could program the the TV Input button to scroll through the various available input options on the Visio TV. Since the original remote was never programmed to do this, I did not know it could. This is great as I no longer have to get up and manully select the TV input from the TV control panel when i want to switch between broadcast TV or other inputs. To do this, after you get the correct TV code programmed, press and hold the mute and select keys down for two seconds gain, and once the LED flashes twice, enter the code "960". Thats it. The TV input button should now let you scroll through your TV's different input options...TV, AV1, AV2, HDMI1, HDMI2, etc.Note: As other have stated, this is an IR (Infrared) version, not the RF (Radio Frequency) version. Some AV equipment may require an RF version in order to be programmed and/or fully functional. I do not have this problem and the IR works the same as my original DTV remote.I would highly recommend this product as a replacement or additional DTV IR remote. Even with the shipping / handling cost of $7.95 sure beats the price at your local store, where they typically cost around $25 each. Again, I got two for a total of $9.79 delivered to my door! You can not beat the price!

IR control only, not for RF
I prefer this style remote over the newer RC73. That one lacks a stop button, and cannot control A/V power like this model can. The ergonomics are vastly superior with this style too. Note that the RC65/65X, and 66/66X are IF capable ONLY. You`ll need a RC65/66RX for RF control. Also be aware, the Genie HR54 DVR is incompatible using RF mode with this style of remote, even with a RX65/66. If RF compatibility isn`t an issue, this is a great remote to own!

Works great, but needed some nudging in the right direction.
I bought this to replace an old DTV RC65 that had lost a single button function. The story goes like this: We just bought a new Samsung 65" Series 8000 4k UHD. It comes with a Bluetooth remote w/voice, but Samsung seems to think that you only need one BT remote and will only allow one to be "paired" at a time. That's not to say you can't use an IR remote, but there is a 2 to 4 second lag in the TV taking an IR command, which makes it almost impossible to enter a 3 digit channel number. Well, the DirecTV remote would still control our STB quickly and allow complete control, but the negative (-), volume would not work, the positive would, so I ordered this one so my wife or I could have better / quicker control of basic functions when the other has the Bluetooth remote. My thinking was "Just swap them out... what could go wrong?"Our DirecTV receiver DID NOT recognize this remote, even with the selector switch set to DTV. But the TV did, and gave me a very long list of codes to use and instructions on how to configure it, which involved putting the selector switch to TV (Not DTV). The TV never gave me any static over the original RC65. Anyway, after several attempts and some frustration that this remote wouldn't work with my STB, I reluctantly let the TV give me some help. I entered the very first code offered up by my TV, and it worked. I set it back to DTV, and it worked. This is the only IR remote that does not lag, so it is obviously controlling the DirecTV STB. Go figure. We have two other Samsung universal IR remotes, and both have horrible lag.Just be prepared for the possibility that this remote will not work with your DTV STB out of the box, even though it is a direct replacement for the one you are using. You just have to jump through a few hoops, talk to it nicely, and take it out to diner. heh heh

Best replacement remote I have purchased.
After my previous remote decided to take a spa day in our Bulky Bedding cycle on the washing machine I needed a replacement remote so my wife would quit borrowing our primary remote in the living room. She would badger me and take it at inopportune times during my tv time. In the middle of a DVR'd program and need to scrub through the endless commercials? Check. Needing to change the channel? Gone. TV stuck on Pacific Blue? Nowhere to be found. A quick search on Amazon and I had the remote the next day. Luckily Amazon has a major distribution center where I live and my Prime membership ensured the remote arrived the very next day.Pros: It works. It changes the channel. It controls the TV. It does everything the previous remote did. I cannot comment on the speed of said actions, but it appears to be right on par with the previous remote. Setup was simple, I looked up the codes online and the remote was setup in a matter of minutes.Cons: I had to buy this remote because the previous ended in the washer as noted above. Neither my wife nor my 3 month old nor my bulldog nor my cat will admit as to how it ended up in the washer.
