ScalaClassico Men's Crushable Felt Outback Hat

I needed something more than a baseball cap to keep sun off my face and ears, and a warm hat for colder weather.This hat has got lots of compliments (a guy in the mall yesterday said he "wants me to give him my hat"). I told him where he could buy one himself.The wool of the hat keeps my head warm and stays on in moderate wind. The color is good (I got the dark brown) and the wool quality is every bit as good as a comparable Stetson, for half the price.Sizing: I'm about a 7.25 hat size, diameter of my head is just under 23". So I'm normally between a med and large. I opted for a medium and it was a bit tight. But I used a hat stretcher on it a few times, stretched it maybe an extra half inch, now it's perfect: snug but not tight.I love this hat, it looks great and gets a lot more positive attention than I expected. It will probably last a long time since I'll only wear it in fall-winter-spring. It might be too warm for summer.The only thing I didn't like about it was the cheap synthetic leather hat band with the feather. Feathers are fine, but just not my thing. I replaced it with a custom horsehair band... Much better.I can't speak to the water resistance because I haven't worn it in rain yet, but I imagine it will shed a fair amount of water.

This hat was a replacement for the same old one. It matched well and is well made.

Purchased for anniversary gift for husband. He had taken over mine that my dad bought me years ago. He loves the old one I had but he ruined it with our dogs. When I found this on Amazon k was shocked because of sizing but the size range is accurate on the listing. We all have larger heads and this fits him well.The color has not faded (if you leave them in direct sunlight say in a vehicle they will fade so be mindful of that).The wearability is top tier!I give this brand of hat A+ in sturdiness too!This is the best hat brand! I’m so thankful I found it on Amazon!

I accidentally ordered this in black when I meant to order it in chocolate, so I had to return it. I would have had to return it anyway, however, due to it being slightly too large. I normally wear a 7 3/8" hat, and according to the size chart that would be a large in this brand. However it was too loose by about a 1/4". So order smaller than you normally would!That being said, when I ordered the medium in chocolate to replace the black one, I received the "Indiana Jones" version by Dorfman Pacific and not the "Scala" version. I found out of course that Dorfman Pacific is the maker of the Scala brand as well so the hats were basically identical except for the hat band and the Indiana Jones markings. Still, I was a bit annoyed that it wasn't what I had ordered and I returned it as well in favor of a different Dorfman Pacific hat. I will say that the medium fit quite well and if I wasn't looking for a specific hat, I would have been happy to keep it.This hat shipped super fast; i got it in two days. And the second one came just as fast. The returns were free thanks to amazon prime.These hats are shaped very nicely and are of good quality material that looks good when worn. I liked the black even though it wasn't my first color choice.Overall, as long as you keep the sizing in mind, you should be very happy with this hat!

but this hat has changed me into one. Due to a steady abandonment of my hair from my head, I discovered that cold air is now tingling my scalp. "Sooner or later," I thought, "I'm gonna have to get a hat." Not being a big fan of baseball caps, I considered the flat cap but didn't like the looks. The cowboy hat was just too limited on where I could wear it without looking like a dork. So, I started looking at hats when I happened to see them in stores but didn't go out of my way searching.While browsing in a local department store while my wife was Christmas shopping I ran across this hat. It felt great, fit perfectly, looked good on me and was a good color! I also LOVED the fact that it was crushable and would pop right back out to normal and was nearly waterproof! What was NOT to like was the price! In the store this hat was $90! WOW! For me that was too much for a first hat!! "I can beat that on Amazon," I told myself.I jotted down the brand name, the model and size (L) and placed the order when I got home. A few days later, my prize arrived and at a SIGNIFICANT savings!! Unfortunately my bargain was too large! It dropped to my ears and would not stay on my head. I was Soooo disappointed!Now the debate was . . . which one was wrong? The one in the department store or the one from Amazon? I took a gamble and sent back the Amazon model (the only one at the department store one was sold) and reordered a medium. I was disappointed to discover that for an unexplained reason, the medium was nearly $10 MORE than a large ?????Bottom line, the medium arrived and it fit great! I love the hat! My head stays warm, it sheds water and I've gotten lots of compliments on its looks. It is appropriate in most venues and has a classic look without being pretentious.The journey was a bit frustrating but it was well worth it!
