Great truck for the money. Easy to Drive.
Great truck for the money. Grandson is a bit young for it at 1 1/2, but still figured it out pretty well. Unfortunately, we (dad and granddad) managed to lose/never see the charger in the excitement of Christmas morning, so truck is idle after the battery discharged. Control operation is more like a tank than a truck, but is pretty easy to learn to use. (push both forward buttons to go straight ahead, one to turn, Push both back to go backward. Forward on one and backward on the other side, and the truck spins. On/Off switch on the bottom. Light where the driver would sit lights whenever truck is on. Seems to be pretty sturdy. The controller works with 3 AAA batteries, and it makes various noises when the buttons are pushed in addition to controlling the truck. Grandson is now using it as a fake cell phone, punching in "numbers" and happy with the various sounds each button makes when pressed.Truck works with a custom NiCad battery pack that is recharged with a small, plug-in charger. Fortunately the TopRace.com web site sells "parts" that include both spare batteries and also replacement chargers at a fair price, so our truck will soon be charged back up.

Wonderful birthday gift for a 4-year old!
My son (3 yrs old) has a few models of Top Race remote control construction equipment vehicles. They were given to him by our cousins for Christmas. All the kids in the neighborhood gravitate towards these vehicles and love to play with them when they visit. There is one particular little guy who especially loves them. When his birthday rolled around, I knew exactly what to get him. Being that I did not purchase the items we own, I searched online for the same brand. I was pleased to find several models on Amazon. The recipient seems to LOVE his front end loader. His mom even said it has become the envy in their household as this little guy's younger brother wants his turn every time the toy comes out. The item was received quickly & appeared just as described. According to the toy's new owner, it appears to be working just as it should! I highly recommend this for countless hours of fun!

Neat toy, no charger, and short range.
The controller has two joysticks like a Playstation video game controller, and each stick controls one side of the machine, like a skid steer. If you hold one stick forward and the other backwards, it will spin 360's, which is pretty fun. The controller has buttons on the top that raise and lower the bucket and as it cycles it automatically kind of dumps a little at the top and flattens back out at the bottom. There are multicolored bright lights in the cab. The loader features some neat details, like an air cleaner and smoke stack. Everything works, though I haven't had it long. The controller needs two aa batteries that aren't included, and the loader uses a rechargeable battery pack that is included, however there is no charger included, just a USB adapter. I guess they figure everyone already has a cell phone charger, but I was a little disappointed at the oversight.I have left off a star because you really have to be within like 6 feet of the loader or the remote starts to cut out. It's fun for kids to play with but I expected a little more range even for something this cheap. Also, mine does not play "gagnum style" and after reading everyone else's reviews I was disappointed. Mine plays a couple generic songs and a few other sound effects. All songs play from the controller itself.

Hi troop! Let’s play together
My child absolutely loves this truck. It drives beautifully with the remote control. I hear the remote says, “Hi troop! Let’s play together!”

Great fun for a 3 year old
My just 3yo son is loving playing with his tractor. When on the tractor itself has a light on the driver seat that cycles colors to let us know that it is on (which also probably drains the battery). So when we see it on we remind our son to shut it off - easy. For the controller you have the two knobs on the top. If you push the right one forward the right tires move forward, if you pull it back the right tires move backward. Ditto on the left. To move forward push both forward. To move backward push both backward. To turn only push one or the other in whatever direction you want to go (or push them in opposite directions). There are 4 other buttons on the top of the controller which are only for sound effects on the controller (the tractor doesn't make any sound-effects). There are an additional 2 buttons on the front of the controller and these both make the bucket go up/down. The bucket moves in a pattern and you don't have individual control for the bucket (so it lifts up, changes tilt, drops down, changes tilt and repeats). If you stop pressing the button during the pattern when you press it again it just resumes where it left off (so no control to put it down immediately or up immediately). However this is find since my 3yo has enough excitement in that things move based on his commands! Perhaps an older child might be frustrated that you can't lift back up the bucket before it finishes dropping down, etc.A draw-back of the toy (not its fault though) is that my 1 yo is PETRIFIED of it. We are hoping that with time she will become acclimated to it.

Dangerous, battery compartment easily accessible to children. Obnoxiously loud.
Terrible! Battery compartment easily accessible to children, they are able to take batteries out. No description about the extremely obnoxious loud noise & voice that comes out of the remote. No way to turn noise off. Completely false advertising. No parent or grandparent would be able to tolerate the noise levels. Believe me, you don’t want your kid turning this noise machine on if you are trying to sleep. Take it outside, guarantee it will drive neighbors nuts. Returning both I purchased for grandsons.
