Rough surface to enable lay down of pastels etc
Had intended to use it as a black base for Gouache painting but I think its a bit too rough surfaced for the effect I personally want. Should be good for pastels or any art that wants a bit of surface drag to lay down colour well.

Not bad
You need to be careful if your using watercolour the paper will buckle if it’s too wet. It’s great for metallic paint done in thin layers.

No good for layering
Does not hold layers. Pastel just falls off leaving black patches everywhere.

CF paper is the best.
I use this company's paper whenever possible. For pastel and pencil, perfect. I have the sandy coloured pad and waiting on the grey. I prefer to use coloured paper. This Nior paper is the deepest black I have ever used. It is great as it means you have to build up colours gradually but the result is exactly what I wish to achieve. Cannot wait for the grey to arive.

Great paper. Tolerant of many mediums if used carefully.
I have reviewed this paper before, it’s very good value, and as you can see take paint well well worth the money, I buy it time and time again.
