A good question! It lends a pink-brown tint, as will most dried plants. It's hard to find fresh rose petals that are food grade, but they will give more color. Most commercially made syrups use dyes to get the color.

Q: Can you freeze to make last longer? I bought extra and am wanting to put some away.

I don't know I threw that scentless straw junk away, the whole pound !!! Total waste of my money.
