A household staple
I’m always on the lookout for non-toxic ways to protect my plants—and Harris Diatomaceous Earth has become one of my favorite tools in the “shed”.I use it around the base of my vegetables and flowers to keep slugs, beetles, and other crawling pests at bay. It’s amazing how effective it is without harming the plants, beneficial insects, or the soil. Plus, since it’s food grade, I feel completely safe using it on edibles like tomatoes, squash, and herbs. The fine powder coats surfaces really well and stays put longer than I expected, even after light watering. The included duster is super handy for applying it precisely where I need it, whether it’s under leaves or around the perimeter of raised beds. It's rare to find a product that's both highly effective and eco-friendly. This stuff delivers on both fronts. If you’re trying to garden organically or just want to avoid harsh chemicals, I can't recommend this enough.

Great for Chicken Health! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Harris Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade (2lb) is a fantastic product for maintaining the health of my chickens. I’ve been using it for a few years now, and I’m really impressed with how well it works for both pest control and supporting their overall well-being.Pros:Natural and Safe: This food-grade diatomaceous earth is safe for use around my chickens and other animals, which gives me peace of mind.Effective Pest Control: I’ve noticed a significant decrease in mites and other pests since I started using it in their bedding and around their coop.Improved Health: It seems to help with digestion as well, as I’ve seen improvements in their overall activity and feather condition.Easy to Use: The 2lb bag is easy to handle, and it’s simple to sprinkle in the areas where it’s needed.Cons:Dusty: It can be a bit dusty when applying, so I recommend using a mask or applying it in a well-ventilated area.Overall, this diatomaceous earth is a great, natural way to keep my chickens healthy and pest-free. It’s a product I will continue to use and recommend to other chicken owners!

Fabulous multi use product
This stuff is awesome ! I sprinkle around on my carpet, leave it down for a few days & vacuum it up. Takes care of fleas in a non toxic way. I covered my back yard one time and my son said it looked like Scarface had lost a delivery! I've been known to add a tiny amount to the dogs & cats' kibble because it is supposed to help with worms. I even put it in the litter boxes.

Wonderful stuff
This dust is very messy, but very effective! I have used it to stop garden pests, to keep vermin out of my cabins & sheds, to stop ant trails into my house, to dust cats & dogs to get rid of flea infestations, to dust environments to kill fleas, and even fed it to pets to kill intestinal parasites. It is wonderful stuff. It works by mechanically scraping the waxy coating off an insect. This makes it lose water rapidly, dehydrate and die. It's a mechanical effect so they cannot really ever develop a resistance to it, and the effect happens slowly, so the insects never learn to associate the powder with illness. They just crawl through it, and to them, it is like crawling through broken glass. If they scrape or clean it off themselves, they're only speeding up the effect. The only problem is handling it - it's messy, although it doesn't stain, is chemically inert, and is easy to wipe or wash off with water. The bag is sealed, but the internal zip-lock seal is not, so when you tear that opening, do it slowly or use scissors, and have the bag inside another, plastic bag to contain any puffs of powder that come out.I recommend a powder duster tool to use this, but you can also cut the corner of a zip-lock bag and use that to dispense the powder. A small spoon will also do the trick. Dust around the door jambs, behind fridges & stoves, and wherever else moisture or bugs are likely to congregate. The powder contains silica (diatom shells are made of it), but as I recall, this is not a reactive form of silica, so you cannot get silicosis from it. It is not dangerous like other silicates are, but it can cause mild respiratory irritation if you use it a lot. You can wear a mask when you dust it, or just do what I do and pull your shirt collar up to cover your nose. For normal use around the house, you probably won't need to do any of this. I just mention it for those who will be using this heavily and often.EDIT: I'd like to add some information. I did a LOT of research about whether food grade diatomaceous earth is dangerous. It is not! It is USDA approved as generally safe for people and pets. It's the amorphous and crystalline silica that's dangerous, and those are found in insecticide DE and filter medium DE, not food grade DE. Food grade DE is purified. You can use it with no worries. I cannot add links to a review, but you can try searching "food grade diatomaceous earth safe" or similar, to find a number of science papers.
