Blah Blah Blah is the card game that makes phonics fun! Race to get rid of your cards by matching sounds and letters, and playing wild cards to trip up your opponents. Master decoding words using phonics with these three decks of cards, ranging from easy to more difficult. Every card shows a word consisting of three letters (or groups of letters), e.g. b-o-x, b-oo-k, p-i-ck. Each player takes seven cards. One card is placed face-up on the table with the rest of the deck in a pile, face-down. Players must play a card from their hand that contains at least one of the letters that are in the word on the table. The first player to get rid of all their cards wins. But beware! Wild cards hidden in the deck can force you to skip your turn or draw more cards. Bonus feature: each card has a QR code at the back to help you pronounce the sounds. Why are phonics so important? English consists of about 44 phonemes (sound variations), but more than 170 graphemes (different written representations for these sounds). This means that English has no strict one-to-one correspondence between letters and sounds, but it’s also not entirely irregular. It involves numerous patterns and regularities. Phonics is the method that helps children become aware of these regularities. And Blah Blah Blah is that game that makes phonics fun! "Finally there's a game that makes phonics fun and engaging! Children will practice matching letters to sounds while playing which will turn them into fluent readers without them even noticing. What a brilliant idea!" -= Professor Susan Neuman, NYU "Some of our most cherished family memories are of playing games like Uno with our kids. But our memories of learning phonics together... Not so fun! It was blah for parents and blah for kids. So we set ourselves the crazy challenge of creating a crazy card game that made the whole family laugh while learning phonics" - Mrs Wordsmith
