It works - tested it immediately upon receipt.
We have a willow style tree which overhangs our patio. Lately it's started to look like a kid with an unruly hairdo who hasn't seen a barber or stylist in a long while. A few scaggly branches popping out here and there. It seems less than ideal - not to mention due to it's height, not possible - to really use a ladder effectively with a trimmer or lopper in hand. So pole lopper/saw it is.After looking at a lot of reviews and specs - this Fiskars model hits the right mix of features (length and cutting capability) for a good price. The model I purchased extends from 7' - 16' and has the "chain drive".Overall the tool seems sturdy - time will tell. The fiberglass pole is striking a nice balance between weight and strength and reach. The tool head with lopper worked fine to nip thru 3 branches that were just a bit over 1" in diameter (thickness). I have not yet tested the saw - other than to remove the blade while using the lopper. When fixing the saw for use - you undo a single wingnut and align a support hole with a nub on the tool head and the hole for the bolt for the wing nut to (re)secure the saw. It would be nice if they'd include a second nub so you could secure the blade to the tool while it's not in use and not worry that it could slide out of position.Overall I'm happy with the price/performance - it made easy work of the test branches on the willow over the patio - requiring not too much strength to pull the rope for the lopper. It's a bit unwieldy but extended to 12 or 16 feet that's to be expected. Time will tell about the durability - but I have a weekend coming up soon to do some trimming on a number of trees around my property.

Makes ease to prune!
I highly recommend the Fiskars 7'-16' Chain-Drive Extendable Tree Pruner and Pole Saw for its exceptional functionality and ease of use. As a professional at Home Depot, I frequently recommend this product for trimming small branches at elevated heights. The lightweight aluminum pole, extending from 7 to 16 feet, minimizes fatigue, making it ideal for extended use. Its low-friction coating ensures smooth cutting through wood, while the chain-drive gearing mechanism provides maximum cutting power, even through tough branches. The double locking system ensures safety and stability during operation. The precision-ground steel pruning blade is incredibly durable and stays sharp through heavy use, offering excellent value for the price. I've found it to be long-lasting and reliable, making it a smart investment for any gardening or landscaping project. From my personal experience, I can attest to its simplicity in operation and practicality, making it an indispensable tool in my arsenal.Overall, the Fiskars Tree Pruner and Pole Saw not only meets but exceeds expectations, providing exceptional performance at an affordable price point.

Reaches High Limbs for Pruning or Sawing
This is longer than 12'. It is about 8' long and extends to about 15'. It is the Fiskars quality I know from their amazing scissors. It is fairly light for its size. The pruner is sharp and easily cuts 1" or smaller branches. It will cut up to about 2", but over 1" takes a lot more force and strength. If you only want to prune smaller branches, then don't install the saw. With the saw attached, it is more difficult to place the pruning hook. The saw works well. It has been outside in the rain for several days and is still bright and shiny stainless. I've cut up to 6" limbs with it overhead, but that size limb takes about 20 minutes to cut. Smaller limbs cut through in a few minutes with the super sharp saw.The adjusting mechanism is very easy to use. There is a collar that locks the pole to length. Once the collar is released, you can press a button to slide the extension in or out. There are 3 extension holes that make it about 10', 12', and 15' at its longest. Release the button and slide the extension until it clicks. Then close the collar and start cutting. It is more difficult to stabilize at the longer settings. The pruning rope extends about 2' longer than the pole at it greatest length. It's better to only prune 1" or smaller branches when it is fully extended, because the force needed for larger branches cause a bow in the device while pulling the cord. There were some issues with the pruning head cord coming off the rollers from branch contact. It was easy to correct by hand. I left the saw attached (held on by a single wingnut), but I think there would be less cord issues without the saw.I'm very pleased with this pole saw and I'm so happy that I didn't get the multi-piece long saws after seeing how they come apart. I highly recommend this pole saw/pruner from Fiskars.UPDATE: Still 5 stars! I've used this pole saw a lot. The pruning cord can get tangled at shorter lengths, but is easy to manage by hold the cord on the handle during use. I love this pole saw and it has done everything I needed with high branches!
