THIS IS NOW MY FAVORITE COOKBOOK!!!
I sent this book to a friend in prison who was desperately looking for recipes after he learned he could cook there. HE LOVED IT!!!It seems the author went out of his way to make this book not just about cooking in prison and other places with limited resources, but also about the challenge of having something positive to look forward to every day. This book is very cleverly written. I enjoyed the story before each recipe, Arties great wit and positive attitude made what must have been a difficult experience seem easy.I REALLY RECOMMEND THIS AMAZING BOOK!!!

GREATEST COOKBOOK
The Jailhouse Cookbook is a fascinating read, amazingly poignant insight into Chef's extraordinary life. Cleverly written, humorous, innovative, I couldn't put it down. How to do the most with what you have! And amazing recipes too! Can't wait for Book No. 2.

Creative cooking for novice and experienced cooks
This book has good recipes that can be made at home or camping out... or in jail... Instructions for recipes are very detailed and easy to follow. I recommend this book for anyone who likes to cook. The author is upbeat given his circumstances and he goes to show that one can make the best of any horrible situation, if one puts ones mind to it. Of course, talent and creativity play a big part....and Artie is a highly skilled chef with lots of imagination. PVW, NC

Worthless for Texas Prisons...
It might be good elsewhere, but it only ended up teasing the person I sent it to in Texas because they can't get most of the stuff in it. Would be nice if in the description it specified which state(s) it was applicable to because it's not like it can be returned when it's sent to a prison inmate...and i felt really bad having teased them with recipes they can't make =/

Cookbook is lunchin
This book is super lame. After conversations with friends about what it was like .. the commissary … the scheduled meals .. how so many things were innovated despite the limitations. This is just a book by a guy whose mom sent him 35 pounds of food a month .. that he was able to cook too .. talking about having his own freezer… cool dude were you in protective? And ridiculous stories like that Latin Kings mistook his Little Kitty tattoo as legit repping Latin Kings and were then nice to him. Yeah sure dude. The reason I bought the book is the crazy things I heard of from friends who did bids relating to food … fascinating often .. this book is not that

fascinating
This cook book is amazing! I love reading cook books, but I have never read one with such detailed explanations of each cooking process. The humorous, down to earth, decriptions of each culinary accomplishment is entertaining reading.

Worthwhile
We really enjoyed this very unusual book. It is well written and informative. The recipes look very tempting although we haven't tried them yet. We recommend the book.
