Great storylines
I'm currently watching season 3 after thoroughly enjoying seasons 1 and 2. I really enjoy the separate plot lines for each character through the episodes. I would think that Absaroka county must have one of the highest murder rates in the country. I like all the characters (Vic isn't quite what I imagined from the books) and would highly recommend this series of DVDs. Great series and much better viewing than any prime time show.

Long Live Longmire! BLU-RAY is the only way to go for this great series, and Season 3 is the best yet....
One of the best shows of modern-day television....and it got cancelled by the (expletives deleted) at A&E. Thankfully, there will be a Season 4 elsewhere, but the most important thing is to be able to experience this magnificently produced, beautifully shot, and brilliantly crafted series on Blu-ray disc. Just as the Season 1 & 2 combo set did for me, the presentation of Season 3 on Blu-ray knocked the pants off broadcast television or internet streaming. The quality of the image just isn't nearly as good, and these Blu-ray discs have been impeccably authored by Warner Brothers at a high bitrate to enable the maximum opportunity to take in the gorgeous cinematography, and the amazing performances by Robert Taylor, Lou Diamond Phillips and the whole cast at their best. Season 3 raised the stakes, with tighter writing and deeper insight into the characters. Too many great TV shows today are not available on Blu-ray, but only on DVD or streaming, and it drives me a little nuts when a show as well made as Longmire isn't given its due. Thanks to Warner for seeing to it that Walt, Henry, Branch, Vic & Co. look and sound as good as they do on this wonderful Blu-ray set. P.S.: Love the extra feature documentary. Very well done!

A priceless series to watch about the New West
Pure excellence. It really capture the small town sheriff's experience perfectly and keeps you constantly entertained. Having served as a prosecutor and a judge in a small town in Colorado very similar to the small community in Longmire. We also had the interesting aspect of having the the Ute Mountain Ute tribe located within our jurisdiction just as Longmire has the Cheyenne tribe within his jurisdiction. The constant conflict between BIA or tribal law and state law and battles over jurisdiction are so incredibly true.I have been an attorney, prosecutor, law professor, judge, and magistrate over the past 25 years. I discourage people from concentrating on the NCIS and CSI programs, which are largely fictional in nature and not what true police work is like. Longmire TRULY depicts law enforcement in the 21st Century in a rural area. Where one's deductive reasoning takes precedence over DNA, blood spatter, and tiretrack comparison, which are oftentimes only available to "big city" police department and which are often hard to gather evidence to support. This is the most authentic law show that I have seen since Hill Street Blues in the 1980s.

Very enjoyable but getting unbelievable - quick turn the ship!
I've really enjoyed this show originally because of the acting, cinematography, and types of stories. I will agree with the reviewer who stated they wouldn't want to live in that little Wyoming town - seems to be quite an abundance of murders! But that improbability aside for the sake of enjoying the show...the third season is getting over the top in disbelief. They are starting to do things that clearly don't make sense for the sake of dry cool (SPOILER ON EPISODE: they present as evidence a body illegally dug up by the prime suspect?. I'm not in law and that seems downright fishy.) I do like all the actors. I love that Ferg ultimately stood up for himself - he is a very real life character. Branch is amazing in going from Disney looking prince in season 1 into complete darkness and he his character is enjoyably complex as he struggles with his morals of wanting to get ahead, and pleasing his family, and wanting to do the right thing. Love Henry, Walt, and Vic and especially like the character of Cady. She appeals to my age group of being strong, feminine, and somewhat frustrated (being too educated to fit into her living circumstances and financially challenged) and she's pretty and real without being an unbelievable typical casting of a gorgeous twenty year old super model. Sometimes they have Walt do things out of his character to make him look too good - like the episode where he saves the horse. Most cowboys would have ended the horse's life to prevent it from suffering. Real cowboys don't let animals suffer - at least where I grew up - and a horse lays down that long it's the end of them. So it was very sweet, but it made it a little too romance novel for a normally gritty show. (Plus, that kind of medical care is way outside his salary and money isn't in belief suspension for the show as it is often brought up). Hope the show continues but I would also like to see some slightly lighter episodes that actually end - not the long drawn out looks like one of the main characters has died at the end of each episode. Getting a little unbelievable.

This was a Christmas gift to my father-in-law
For all those Longmire fans who want to veg out on the couch and see how the tv saga continues. I really enjoyed season 1 and 2 and got my trigger happy father-in-law hooked. He seems very pleased with this season. Can't wait to go visit and watch a bit of this present!

Real hero's still exist....
Whether you love the great old westerns or not, Longmire is all that and a bag of nails! Robert Taylor is a man's man's and the better half we all dream about. The rest of the cast stands out not only for their originality but their modern take on an old favorite, loyalty, in a day of age where 'me,myself, and to hell with everyone else'prevails . Friendships are real, intelligence is hand in hand with knowledge, of the land and what makes people tick! And, just what makes them real hero's? Their flaws....
