Trusted brand and great integration with ring alarm system.
First alert has always been one of the "gold standard" products for smoke and carbon monoxide detection. This version has two great features which make it a winter. The first is a 10-year sealed battery. Eliminates the need for changing the batteries with every time change. The second is Z–wave certification with easy integration with ring alarms base station. Each of the three I purchased easily was found and integrated into my ring alarm base station. In this way, not only does the alarm ring in the house when it senses Smoker carbon monoxide, and alerts me on my app so if no one is home I can call the fire department. Also, if you pay for ring professional monitoring, then the ring people will call the fire department. These are great detectors with great functionality. Highly recommended.

Peace of Mind - Seamlessly Integrated
I couldn’t be happier with this smoke and CO alarm. Setup was incredibly easy—within minutes it was paired with my home automation system (hubitat). I love the fact that it’s battery powered, so I didn’t have to worry about wiring or placement limitations. The alerts are fast and reliable, both on the device and via my hubitat app, which is a game changer when I’m away from home. It’s reassuring to know I’ll be notified instantly if something’s wrong. The dual functionality (smoke + CO detection) in one compact unit is super convenient too.The build quality feels solid, and it even has a sleek, modern design that blends well with my home decor. Highly recommend for anyone looking to boost their home safety and take advantage of smart home features. Worth every penny!

Sure did cheap out on the face print but works
Out of the box I thought it was the wrong detector because it looks like a cheap knockoff of the real thing compared to the listing image and the non-zwave first alert it replaced. They printed everything on the front, but in small print off to the side. Bought 2, both look the same and not like the listing image. That said, got it hooked up with HomeAssistant without needing any extra add-ons or such. All the stats are there and recognized correctly. Hopefully I'll never need to test it.Will update if I run into any reliability issues down the road.

DANGEROUSLY MISLEADING ADVERTSING. IF YOU DON'T USE RING LISTENER, THIS CAN'T TRIGGER A DISPATCH.
Edit: april 25 2022When I wrote the review this product could not trigger a fire department response. It could only send a smoke altert to your phone. It was not ready. Now the ring service is 20/month instead of 10 and the service seems to work. Though rings reliability overall has not been perfect for me. Sometimes I can’t see the video feed even when I have wifi for instance. So my confidence in the monitoring service is not perfect but the product is improved to provide expected functionality at least. I’m not sure also if this particular model is compatible but I know the most recent versions are compatible and can trigger a fire department call as expected.I just received this and set it up but then wondered how do I test the system. I called ring and learned that the customer service people don't understand this unit very well at all, even in several tiers of customer support, and may give incorrect information about it. Ultimately I was informed very clearly that this Z-Combo unit is only able to trigger a notification somehow through ring. and there's no way to test that process. It can definitely not trigger an actual fire alarm or Fire Dept dispach in the ring system. It does produce the correct chirps that the ring smoke listener can detect in order to trigger an alarm and dispatch the fire department. The listener is the ONLY way to have active professional monitoring service work for fire. If you want to test the listener, the professional monitoring service will call you and dispatch the fire department. Then they will mark it as a false alarm after they hear from you that there is no fire. So as far as I can tell, there is no added benefit to this version unless you don't care about the professional monitoring services. In fact if you don't set it up correctly with the listener, and you pair this unit intuitively thinking you have smoke detection integrated with active monitoring service without the listener, then this is much more dangerous because it could cause a mis-understanding. Again just to re-clarify: Simply pairing this with ring will do almost nothing other than send you a notification. It MUST be tested successfully with the LISTENER using the app.
