Great for Beginners!
First-time smoker here, so this was perfect for me at a reasonable price. It was easy to set up and use, and the results have been great between my 2 attempts so far; I even got it working well on a snowy day! The only issue is that it can be hard to get the temp over 200 F; this hasn't been an issue yet, but I will try some of the modifications other reviewers have mentioned to see if that helps.

A great easy smoker
I read a lot of reviews before buying this. I have/had an old red weber smoker almost the same as this one. I was a little concerned as some of the reviewers stated lousy materials used. This is not at all the case. The materials are equal to or better than my weber which I loved but its time was done. The bottom line is one needs to keep this protected when not using from the elements . It's seems common sense but we all get lazy and do not cover it or remove from elements. I already used it first day and it performed great. It was plenty hot to smoke an oven roaster and a full rack of ribs. For the price it is well worth it for your smoking needs.

Overall good experience! Easy assembly too.
Took this out of the box the day it arrived, took about 20 minutes to put it all together correctly, and immediately fired it up! I cooked a bone-in pork shoulder all day for about 8 hours. It tasted absolutely amazing. The only thing about this product is that I wish I would have gotten the electric version so that I didn't have to sit and tend to the coals and wood all day long.It does as advertised though! works great!

Great little smoker the the occasional enthusiast.
This is a good enough little smoker for what I need it for. If you’re going into a Q competition, you might want a little better. But for occasianal smoking of brisket (need to cut it in half and use both grates), ribs, chicken, or pork but, you can’t beat this for $40 from Prime Warehouse.Easy to get to temp, imparts great flavor, small enough to store conveniently when I’m not using it. I did buy some heat proof moulding to seal the lid and fire hatch. Think that’ll give me better temp control and smoke penetration. Would buy this again.

Great Cheap Smoker
This was my first time purchasing and using a smoker and I settled on the Masterbuilt to see if it was something I would like. The smoker was simple to put together and I had it assembled in less than 10 mins. I have made a few modifications and actually use a small tabletop weber grill I had lying around for my charcoal tray because the pan that comes with the smoker has no vents and no where for the ash to go which causes the charcoal to burn out faster and is harder to control the temp. I planned on drilling some vent holes and adding a small grate for the coals to sit on to allow the ash to fall away as needed until I discovered the small grill with a vent on the bottom, ash catcher, and grate to hold the coals above the ash worked better. The temp gauge that comes with the smoker also does not work so plan on ordering another one.All around this is a great smoker especially for beginners with a few modifications.

Good for Small & Short Smokes
Wanted to try my hand at smoking so decided on the MasterBuilt charcoal smoker. Wanted to try without breaking the bank in case it was too difficult. Turns out it's pretty easy! The MasterBuilt works good for smaller items with shorter smoking times. Difficult to maintain temps over 220 degrees for long periods. Adding briquets don't seem to keep up heat fast enough. I don't think it's possible to do brisket. Going to make some modifications based on what I've read on the internet. For starting out this is a good little unit but I after a few months I'm quickly growing out of it. I will still use it for quick smoking!

Great for a beginner
Bought it as a Father's Day present for my dad. I wanted something big enough that he could cook for a small gathering, but small enough for just him and my mom to use since it's just the two of them now. My dad is a true lover of all things smoked but is new to actually doing it himself. This is a nice basic one to get started on without being too expensive and it seems of good enough quality to last him until he's ready for an upgrade. He seems really happy with it.

Small smoker
I got this for my husband for father's day. It's small and wanted to get a cheaper smoker to start with and this is perfect!! You can smoke 3 racks of ribs and we cut a large briscuit into smaller pieces and smoke it at once. Great value and great buy!!!!

Works well for hot and cold smoke
So far I've cold smoked a couple rounds of homemade bacon and some cheese. I've done one hot smoke of some back ribs with reasonable success (for first try). Keeping the unit up to temperature and with even heat was a bit tricky, but I attribute any issues i had to my inexperience. For the cold smoke I used an A-MAZE-N tray on the charcoal bowl at the bottom. Also used the A-MAZE-N for the hot smoke. All in all it worked pretty well.

One needs some experience with smoking.
I have only used once before winter set in. The chicken was good. I’m early on the learning curve with this but no one got sick.
