Q: Does a mouse have a way to get inside this unit to make a nest? This was a major issue I discovered with another brand. Total fire hazard.

An old trick that does usually work is to place some Moth balls inside the area that you do not want rodents to bother and they will keep out.. I use this method on old autos that I have stored on my property and it has worked well to date.. Hope this helps folks with this problem/issue.

The burner's electronic igniter is almost certainly not going to work if soaked by rain. I took these instructions to mean: "Use it outside if the water held inside won't freeze (and burst the piping), but if not under some sort of cover, then shroud it (probably with tin or something the exhaust won't melt or ignite) to keep it from getting soaked by rain."

Q: is there a way to bypass the 20 min shut off switch? I need this to supply constant hot water in an application where it will be supervised.

You could always set up a timer to switch it off and on every 20 min and reset the auto shut off
