First off, make sure the color option you get has a powered pump. If you click through the photos, you can see that some only have valves, while others have a pump in the lower corner. The pump can be annoying if you kick it at night (which you probably will), but other than feeling like a hard piece on the pad, it doesn't hurt and it makes inflating and deflating the pad sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo convenient. Like, you have no idea. Or maybe you do, if you've used passive-filling pads before.The pump came pre-charged, so I was able to test the pad out before camping, and then deflate it and pack it, and then re-inflate it at the campsite, and deflate it again afterwards all without having to charge it. The pad will get pretty firm if you inflate it all the way, so keep an eye on it while it inflates and try to avoid filling it to max. I am about 125 pounds and when the pad is fully inflated it feels okay to lay on while on my back, but I think it would get uncomfortable if I laid on it like that for too long. As a side-sleeper, though, fully inflated it is much too hard. What I ended up doing was inflating it until it looked full (which doesn't take long - maybe twenty seconds?), and then sat on it to confirm the hardness. I couldn't feel the ground at all, so I deflated the pad for a couple seconds, until it had softened to the point that I could almost feel the ground when I sat down. That might seem too soft, but truth be told, once you lay down and your weight is more evenly distributed along the pad, it will be just soft enough to conform to your body. At this setting, it's very comfortable to sleep on as a side-sleeper, and I slept on it over hard, rocky ground without any trouble. I think the trick is to just play around with the inflation levels until you find what works for you. It might sound like a pain, but it doesn't actually take that long. Certainly easier to deal with than a passively inflated mat, I am sure. For the record, the instructions say that filling it 90% full should be comfortable for most.As far as re-rolling and storing the pad is concerned, the pump makes the former task super easy. I set the pump to deflate while pushing the air out of the pad from the opposite end, and it's ready to roll in under a minute. Rolling it once flat is simple, and I like to run the pump one last time as I get to the end of the roll so that it pushes out any remaining air. From there, getting the straps on and sliding it back into the bag is so, so easy. Much easier than putting a tent back in a bag, that's for sure. The roll is fairly compact for what it is, and it's pretty lightweight, too. Probably not something you would lug along on a hiking trip, but if you're camping out of a car, then it's a great option. It's much more convenient to store than one of those accordion folding foam pads, which is what I used previously. Overall, it's convenient, comfortable, and a must-have for casual camping trips.

Once I got past the quality control this ended up being a very good air mattress. The first one I received the pump had some rattling in it and wouldn’t charge the second one was missing the charge cord. However, now that I have a complete working unit I’m impressed with the quality of the mattress itself and how quickly it inflated and deflated. It was fast it took about a minute both ways in my estimate. It also has a built in slightly raised pillow. If you like more pillow support you will have to add one. The design of the pump is really simple to work, and I like that you can use the pump for other things. Like your friends air mattress that they have to blow up , lol. They even include attachments for that type of use. It rolls back up nicely and everything fits in the bag without having to wrestle with it to make it super small. The pump sucks out all the air so it can be easily rolled. The direction state that you can get 7 fills on one charge of the pump, that’s pretty significant. Overall once I got a fully working unit it was totally worth it and really nice.

I was so excited to get this mat for car camping. My Honda Element car seats fold down to make a bed but it’s a little hard to sleep on (imagine the seat belts buckles, the firmness differences, etc…) so I wanted something to smooth that all out.I also determined that I didn’t want an “air” mat but something that was foam that I could roll up easily for day storage. Something self inflating as sometimes electricity isn’t a possibility.Upon initial inflation, all of my excitement turned to regret. I read the instructions, rolled out my mat flat, opened the valve completely and waiting for it to inflate. Instructions said one minute. It was barely 1/2” at the one minute mark. After 5 minutes, it was about 3/4” and so I waited, thinking that it needed time to expand and after an hour there was no change. I decided to try it out anyways and was sad to see that it made NO difference in the comfort of my car camping set up.I came back to the listing, read some helpful reviews and decided to try it out again. I brought it back inside and inflated it with an air pump. Thinking that the foam would expand more and make it easier for the next use. I left it inflated for approx. 24 hours before deflating it again. I took it back out to my car, unrolled it and opened the plug. It worked to my likening and I didn’t need to use the pump.*** So I’ve determined that when you get this mat, you should inflate it to capacity with an air pump FIRST, then let it sit so the foam has time to reshape itself. It still doesn’t inflate to capacity without the pump but it does inflate to a thickness that is suitable for me. I think the instructions it comes with are wack and need revised. You can’t use this product right out the box. You have to inflate it, initially.Now, my only problem is rolling it back up. After letting it expand like that, you need the pump suck air out to get it back to the size needed to roll it up. I can roll it up while partially inflated, squishing the air out and putting the elastic bands that come with it on to hold it together… but it doesn’t fit back in the bag and takes up more room that a regular air mat.I have now slept on this mat for a week straight as well as a few stray days here and there, probably about 15 uses total, and has withstood the use. No rips, tears or holes. It hasn’t deflated on me.I would purchase this product again.*Over three months of (almost) daily use and still works great. Still, my only struggle is rolling it back up bc of the space it takes up.
