do not increase the signal at all
The original antenna is a better performance than this one.

Out this on a antenna analyzer and it resonates perfectly
Antenna is very flexible, and tuned perfectly.

Buyer beware: This will kill your FRS/GMRS radio!
I always inspect my antennas before transmitting and I was surprised just how bad this antenna was at resonating at the FRS/GMRS frequencies. It’s 50:1 SWR… that’s very bad. Anything past 3:1 SWR will destroy your radios unless you have an antenna tuner that can handle the mismatch. SWR is a ratio measurement of how much power is reflected from the antenna and back into the radio. Ideally, you want all the radio energy to be radiating into the antenna which is considered 1:1 SWR or transmitting all of the energy into the antenna without any reflection. This antenna is resonance only at 810MHz which is ridiculously far off from the targeted band.I plan on returning this antenna and purchasing 3 more antennas to see if this is all the same or just one bad egg. I’ll update this review if I find a compatible antenna and consider adding more stars to this review as I originally gave it 1 star for not being usable at all for the FRS/GMRS frequency band. Just please be aware and always, always test your antennas before transmitting. I recommend buying a NanoVNA as it’s cheaper than a new radio.

GMRS and UV5R?
As others have stated the reviews seem mixed. This review is for the NA-771G.If you are going to use the UV5R in the GMRS frequencies this is must have. The antenna that comes with the radio is tuned to Ham Frequencies and does not perform well is GMRS frequencies. This is a longer antenna than comes with the radio but it seems to perform well. I can hit repeaters easily that are 15 to 20 miles away depending on terrain. If you want a shorter version closer to the stock antenna size get the NA=701G, it is between 5 and 6 inches long. Just remember, even a $1000 radio works poorly with a bad or incorrect antenna.

Worse than stock antenna?!?!
After much research, I purchased this antenna. I simple scan showed the stock antenna performance is better. The standard antenna works much better this “upgrade” cannot even receive NOAA stations like the stock antenna?
