Fresh spices, lovely taste.
When we saw this Monayiti Epis Haitian Style Seasoning we were really curious about it. This Epis blend of spices has a lot of seasonings that we often use, they are just in a new and interesting style. That's why we thought we should give it a try and find out why Epis is so popular in Haiti. Well it turns out that our gamble paid off as we do really enjoy cooking with this spice blend. One thing to note is that while the first ingredient listed is salt, we did not find this to be genuinely salty at all. The first thing we tried it on was hash-browned potatoes because we wanted to cook something fairly neutral tasting so the spices would come through. It took more than just a couple shakes to really see the flavor coming out but when we got it right we found it to be very enjoyable. It has probably ruined 'normal' hash browns for us as we can't imagine having them plain with just a little salt for seasoning anymore. Good thing this product comes with two large containers of the Epis seasoning, right?Bottom line, this Epis spice is fun to add to lots of things. We made burgers yesterday and they were better with a little of this sprinkled on. So if you are a foodie like we are, we say give it a try!

Nice spice seasoning
Always looking for new spices and rub combinations. This seemed interesting and I use it on chicken, shrimp and white fish.It does have a lot of flavor and doesn't have a ton of heat so good for those who like spice but not the burning heat sensation of spicy peppers, etc. It also doesn't seem to have a lot of salt in it that I could detect so similar to a Mrs. Dash blend. You get a lot with this - thankfully I had a neighbor that I could share one of these bottles with because I don't think I could go through all of this on my own. I mix the spice w/ olive oil and make a paste rub / marinade.I do think the price is a bit high for the 2 bottle pack unless you are looking for this specific Haitian blend

Tasty seasoning with fascinating history
This is a dry version of Haitian epis seasoning, which also commonly appears as a paste with fresh herbs and garlic. This blend is a convenient, shelf-stable way to achieve a similar flavor. It’s great for use in traditional Haitian recipes or just to season meat or stews in general. While the price is high, the containers are generously sized. It may be best to gift one of them so you can use them while they’re fresh (unless you go through A LOT of seasoning).
