VERY solid for the price and has a great display!
This is my third IR thermometer and my favorite so far. It is about 20% smaller than the one sold by Harbor Freight and significantly less expensive. The backlight works great and I like the fact that the door hinges to get the batteries in and out. The HF version takes a 9V battery which is hard to find in my house and the HF version has a goofy sliding door to get at the battery. Every time it dies my wife asks me to put the batteries in because it's such a poor design. This one is much easier. This only takes two AAA batteries which are cheaper and easier to find. I also enjoy the higher range of temps it can measure.

For home cooks to professional chefs
I used this thermometer yesterday on my Sunday dinner to test it before the ultimate test on Thanksgivingdinner. Everything I tested were on point next to my manual thermometer. I tested everything that came from the oven, my banana pudding that was refrigerated for 2 hours and the food that came out of mypressure cooker. This thermometer work great and no more poking holes in my food. For all home cooksto professional chefs you’ll enjoy this simple but very helpful tool.

Works like a charm for cooking...or 3D printing!
Works as expected! I was skeptically at first, so I compared it to my old fashioned meat thermormeter....spot on +/- 3 degrees. My husband has also borrowed it to check his 3D printing temps on the print bed
