Beautifully laid out and perfectly in synch with the new A-level.
Having recently left a negative review for a new GCSE text book which was badly laid out, I thought I'd leave a positive review for this book, which I really like. My background: I'm a private tutor, and have been using the book daily now for around a month. The layout is so clear and easy to navigate (not too cluttered but still all the necessary information). There is some colour but not too much - I find this crucial to make it easy on the eye so you can concentrate on the actual maths. There are worked examples, and plenty of practice questions, labelled P if they are "Problem Solving" and E for "Exam Style".Each chapter has a paragraph at the start explaining why it is useful / real world applications. There are answers in the back and a couple of "exam-style practice papers". There are also 3 review exercises - after each block of 4, 5 or 6 chapters. There are notes in the margin with suggested investigations where Geogebra or other technology might come in useful - very useful for old dinosaurs like me who need to get to grips with the new A-level and associated use of technology.Altogether a great book, if I could give 6 stars I would.

"Official" textbook
This is the official textbook for the Edexcel A Level maths published by Pearson who also produce the actual exam papers. It is well presented and written in easy-to-follow language. But if you pay the full price, it is very expensive. Sometimes available new for half-price or used but in very good condition, it is good value. The CGP equivalent is equally as good but cheaper than the full price for this book.

Great book
I like this book. I am starting my A-Level studies next year and I am impressed with how clear it is. I do notice that some people think this book resembles GCSE and it does in some aspects especially the vectors. I'm guessing that with the Year 2 book it will be much more complicated. I haven't bought the Year 2 book yet nor the Statistics/Mechanics book but I'm assuming they are much more difficult. When I buy the Year 2 book in about a year I'll let you know how hard it is also the Statistics/Mechanics book I will be ordering before September and from the sample pages that does seem difficult. I like the way this book progresses from GCSE understanding to introduction to more difficult A-S/Year 1 A-Level questions. Pearson have done a good job with this book just like their GCSE Revision Guide.

Good help
This book really helped my daughter to succeed in her year 12 End of Year exams and her A-levels, so I would recommend buying this book!
