TSA Approved for a handgun?

The TSA doesn't "approve" specific cases. Each airline has its own requirements, but generally it needs to be a hard-side case that is lockable. It must either be a combo lock or a key lock. If a key lock, then the key must *not* be in your luggage, so TSA employees cannot open it if they are searching your luggage. A cheap plastic handgun case is just fine if you slap a lock on it. If you can fit a lock on this case, then it would be fine. Seems like a bit of overkill though.

how does this compare tot he pelican 1500?

They are similar. The amazon version is a good lower cost replacement. My only major gripe is a design flaw where you can lay the película. On the floor sideways like a briefcase and it sits level. The amazon version sits at an angle making it unstable. Also de Amam in material is less stiff but works just fine. I am using my amazon for housing and transport of my marine multi display chart plotter and other electronics and works great. Have been pelican user for over 25 years.
