In a Jam

This book holds a special place in my heart!
So this is a reread for me. I read this book in December of 2022 and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since. It easily became my #1 favorite book of all time with its small town farm charm. I wanted to reread it since I recommended it to someone recently and wanted to see if I still loved it to pieces. News flash: I do!Everything about this book is just so sweet. I fell in love with Gennie, who is a spit-fire swashbuckler six-year-old who keeps Noah and Shay on their toes. I also fell in love with the progression of Noah and Shay’s relationship. It wasn’t fast by any means, and I loved that. Some people say that this book drags and could be shorter, but I found myself loving every detail of this book. Every meandering moment of it. It wasn’t a love story, but a life story. We got to watch Shay build herself anew and Noah learn what it is to have someone to share life with. They got off on the wrong foot and ended up fake marrying eachother once they became friends, so that brought out other issues further along the line. I enjoyed seeing how they fell into eachothers love more and more and figuring out what that meant for them. All in all, this book is enchanting. Noah is a grumpy brute, but a sweet, educated, and thoughtful grumpy brute. Shay may be self conscious and not think super highly of herself, but she never hesitated to tell everyone how great and important they were to her. And bless Gennie’s heart, cause she was the real MVP in the quest of Noah and Shay’s love. Every character this book was so well constructed and developed that I felt like I was a part of the town of Freindship, Rhode Island.I’m not one for hallmark movies, but if this was a hallmark movie, I would watch it until the end of time. Thank you Kate Canterbary for writing such a magical story full of love, friendship, and new jammy beginnings♥️🍓

4.5/5 stars
4.5/5 starsThis was exactly what I want in a fluffy romance - funny, adorable, fantastic plot, and the smut was excellent. I laughed, I cried, I gasped, I sat shocked....this was just absolutely amazing.Romance is not my genre but man I really did love this - the cursing 6 year old, the high school to adult 2nd chance romance, the small town antics....seriously it just ticks all the boxes!

Fun, Sweet, Complicated Romance
This book is a fun, sweet, complicated romance. The plot alone is what drew me to the book. I loved the whole idea of it!The book starts with Shay being left at the alter on her wedding day. Now, this sounds like a bad thing but it really isn’t. You’ll understand when you hear about her ex! She dodged a huge bullet!! While she’s trying to figure out her life, she receives news that she has inherited her step-grandmother’s tulip farm in Friendship, Rhode Island. This is where she runs into Noah again! They knew each other in high school when she lived with her grandmother.Noah is all grown up and BOY did he grow up nicely!!! He owns his parents old farm and has expanded it into a thriving business. He is also the guardian to his 6 year old niece, Genie. If you ask me, Genie steals the show whenever she’s around!Noah has been in love with Shay since high school, which kinda makes their new relationship a little one sided.I will say that I wanted to smack Shay a few times when she let other people’s opinions dictate how she felt about herself and her life! Rather than trusting herself, she doubted herself at every turn! But, she has been left by a lot of people, starting with her mother.Noah needed to be honest about his feelings sooner than he was. This would have caused less doubt for Shay.LOVED Shay’s friend Jamie!!! She was a straight shooter who loved her friends fiercely!I did love this book! It was entertaining, fun, sweet, romantic and really HOT once they got together!

I liked the setting and general idea of this book; however, I cannot say the same about its main heroes. I could have liked Shay if her character development had suggested that she had learned something. I have never understood the concept of making the wedding day as our life goal, which is exactly what she had done, and as a result, she was left at the altar. Her devastation was not because she missed the person she planned to marry, but because suddenly she was left without her life goal. Of course, it was a humiliating experience, and her ex was another level of a jerk, but without addressing the right issue, one cannot learn from their own mistakes.Another issue I struggled to accept was her unhealthy lifestyle. There is something in between junk food, which teenagers usually prefer, and a lettuce diet to fit into your intended wedding dress. Something healthy and more suitable for a self-respecting thirtysomething woman. I don't like that in romance books, we are more relaxed about chubby heroines while emphasizing the great physique of the main hero. I find it hypocritical and objectifying.Noah was slightly better, but still confusing. I could not see in his actions that he was shy and awkward in front of Shay. I could see him angry and struggling against his attraction to Shay, but not shy. The charade he put on in front of others, and then the back-and-forth with confessing or not confessing his feelings, felt dragged out and boring. Therefore, I found some good moments in the book, but ultimately, it is not something I will think about tomorrow or any other day.

I’ll Marry You
In a Jam est surprenant.
