The device I received has a "one way" valve that does not close properly so when you push the handle in to expel air, it pushes the air into the windpipe/mask instead.This mask will kill a choking victim by pushing the lodged item in farther. Luckily, I tested mine on myself first when I wasn't choking. It pushed air into my mouth until my cheeks were full. It's an extremely dangerous tool. I bought mine from seller YiaYang, delivered by Amazon. I will return mine, and probably buy an American-made product.

I have a higher-priced version of this item and when I compare the two, they seem very similar in quality.This is a bit of a difficult item to review as I hope to never have to use it for real. I tested the mouthpieces though; they are identical to my other unit in fit and quality (which is very good for both). The suction does seem weaker though on the main unit and I notice it lacks an exhaust valve. I would guess that this might affect it's performance but it's hard to say.The construction is solid though and the unit is easy to use. Will keep as a back-up unit.

I have tried this on other surfaces (not humans) to see how well the suction was. I hope I never have to use it, but I am glad I have it now for unpredictable situations. I like how it came with a pediatric face covering and an adult medium face covering. The kids one would be perfect for babies or small children who may be choking. This is just good to have in the kitchen area or dining area. You never know when something may happen or when you will have to use this life-saving device. The instructions are simple to follow and use, and can be easily taught to a child in case they had to use it on an adult. It is sturdy and and can be cleaned if needed.

Used on my toddler and my 5yr old and myself. Pushes air in and suction out is laughable.Would make things worse if choking. No wonder its so inexpensive

This set is pretty simple and easy to use. It comes with clear instructions, but is also quite intuitive. The plunger looks just like a typical sink plunger, except it has an adapter for the face mask on the bottom. I hope I never need to use this, but it certainly creates good suction to remove whatever might be in a potential choking victim's throat. It comes with two face masks, one for adults and a smaller one for children. They are soft and comfortable, and the whole set feels durable and well made. The only thing missing is a case to keep it all in when not in use (which is obviously every day). Since you'll want to have this handy when it's needed, I think a nice case or at least a carrying bag would make it perfect. Still, this set could easily save a life, and I'm happy to know we have it available...just in case.
