Love these mats. Very good value for money and look superb on the table. No chips or faults even though slate can be fragile. They clean easy with just water

PROS: Purchased these placemats as cheapest on Amazon. Packaged well. They look nice on the table and feel sturdy. Do the job. Little foam feet stop them sitting on the surface and causing any scratching. Good value for price paid.CONS: in the pictures the slates appear black but are much lighter, almost grey. The placemats although ok to hold a standard plate or bowl do look a little on the small side, some plates therefore overhang. After the first 2-3 cleans little shards of slate do come away from the edges but still look fine after a good clean. They dirty easily so require a good clean after every use. May be a little sharp for young children to handle.

What can I say from the ordering to the delivery and the super packaging, all amazing high quality standard of work, can’t wait to use for Xmas, excellent products highly recommend

I knew what to expect with this product so I won’t dislike too much as I think they’re very nice. But a couple of issues with my order I ordered the 12pc set and two of the placemats had spots of what I can only describe as gold nail varnish, I’ve tried to pick it off without damaging the slate but can’t get it off. Also out of the 6 placemats one of them feels very thin and fragile compared to the others so can only see one thing happening there. I’ve also looked at other reviews and bought some slate oil to treat the slate before we use it to protect it abit more. It may even hide the gold varnish spots ! Get what you pay for they’re a good price for what they are.***Just to update I’ve applied the slate oil and they’ve come up really nice and the scratches and marks have disappeared so would definitely recommend applying oil.

Excellent quality highly recommended

Liked these, they are v heavy but striking and dark. Nice buff feet in each corner so they don't scratch what they are on. Rough edges give a rustic feel. Didn't give all 5 stars as they needed really wiping down, the edges leaked tiny bits of slate. They do look a bit "kick ass"..... sort of roughty toughty. They do make a bit of a clinky noise when you put plates down on them, as you might imagine. Some people might not like this, if so don't get slate! They do look good and stylish.
