All appears to be in order here.The main housing is well insulated, and the protection circuit has functioned in my limited testing. This simply involved a backwards connection to a 12v battery charged to around 13.5v, in which no voltage was detected on the input cables.Will update with further testing.

When I first tried these I was excited to have such bright lights. They took a minute to warm up, but with some 6000K bulbs they were nice and bright.They didn't last though. After lighting twice fine, on the third use one didn't light. I checked under the hood to see what was wrong and saw a puff of smoke come out of one. I unplugged that and checked the other one was still working okay.After returning to Amazon for replacement, I also got a new pair of bulbs just in case. This time, one burned out on the first try. I hadn't sent the old pair back yet, so I put the two 'good' ones together. A little while later and both had stopped working. I was fast enough to see the puff of smoke out of the second when it died.I've since bought a similar pair from another seller and also ordered some expensive GTR brand bulbs in case the cheap bulbs were the issue. Nope. Same thing happened, so now I've had 6 of these ballasts burn out in short order.I am using a relay, so they are being fed directly from the battery and have enough current.I ended up buying the GTR Ultra AC ballasts, and all 6 of my bulbs work fine in it, including the 4 cheap bulbs I have. (The GTR bulbs are definitely better though.)
