Low Budget
From all I'd heard prior to purchasing this, I was under the impression that this was supposed to be a good movie. I found the plot to be contrived and the combination of the directing and acting to be taxing and tiresome. To the best of my knowledge, and I find myself trying to fathom how, this is supposed to be the movie that propelled Bo Derek to stardom. While the main star was Bo Derek, it featured a very young Olivia D'abo who was supposed to be, I believe, speaking with a Spanish accent, as the bulk of the movie was set in Spain, but it sounded more like Russian. It's possible it was supposed to be Romanian as her character was a Gypsy, however, it was hard to tell at times. As I said, the story was contrived. It was hard to follow as it seemed to have no plot other than the main character trying to lose her virginity. As far as the Blu-ray is concerned, it was barebones. No Extras, Setup Menu, nothing like that at all. Had a "Main Menu", with the "Play" option, so as to not start playing as soon as it was inserted. Picture quality was not bad, not as good as other Blu-rays of this caliber even, but not bad. I believe, if memory serves, it was not converted to 1080p but rather upscaled. The audio was equally dismal. It contains a single DTS HD-Master mono audio track that had no "punch" effect in what few action sequences there were. However, this did help the dialog a bit. Some parts were hard to understand completely, but mostly the dialog was clear and intelligible. All in, I would recommend, unless you are a serious collector or otherwise overwhelmed with curiosity and "need" to check it out for yourself, that you stay as far away from this disaster as possible. However, as with any train wreck, people can't help but look for themselves, so I caution you not to go into this too eagerly or with any amount of anticipation.

Sort of like 'The Potemkin' without the rib-tickling cartoons
Film reviewers, confronted with some films, use code words to disguise their boredom or embarassment. Bolero was an R-rated film intended to be just that. No Steamboat Willie charm, or John Landis comedy. If you think Bo Derek is the hottest thing since the planet Venus, then get this film: period. If you demand an actual script, dialogue, blocking, and staging, then just keep on truckin'. The film consists of partying royal style in the SW part of Asia. Everything is blurred so we're not distracted from the main plot point: isn't Bo magnificent. As for acting, you'd find better actin' in Tough Actin' Tinactin, as Chris Rock said.

Buy It For Bo, lol
I was just about to sell my copy of this DVD. They are a few marks on it, but nothing affecting playback. Then, I started watching it again. OMG! What was I thinking? This film is a treasure just because Bo delivers everything that every man was dying to see. No more than 20 minutes into the movie, Bo is in the sack being drenched in honey which is licked off of her body.... Sorry, I must keep this film. Oh, the whole flick is dumb, but it still delivers. Nudge, nudge; wink, wink; say no more...lol.

Worth seeing iF u like old movies
1-ok, 1st to all those who hate breasts, obviously you were never a baby---or hated it; *AND*, stay away from the USA, cause it's perfectly *LEGAL* for women to be TOPLESS in public most states----NO, that's not porn; If breasts offend you, stay away! ---& maybe move to the moon?Otherwise, only a few sex scenes, tasteful, & tame by today's standards; [NO FFN or male/female genitals]2--Story is ok (love the music, but that's me) but don't watch this for top quality acting3--Bullfighting; Not graphic, but i'm not a fan4--NO/very little (common in today's movies!) VIOLENCE (or GV) ; Language/CUSSING; special effects5--Keep in mind this is 1984, movies in general were very different----but often *BETTER* in some ways;6--light comedy/coming of age/loosing virginity/exhibitionist themes;7--some won't care about this---but I thought it was really cool that the *ONLY* person Bo had sex with, was her husband in Real Life-----How many movies can say THAT?!?

Bo Derek wasn't a very beautiful woman but she perspired sensuality!
Everyone remembers the Bolero scene in Blake Edwards "10".This is just a kind of sequel with a very exotic and wonderful woman? They could do it like this those days. Today women are stuck to their facebook accounts uploading photos and not wanting anything with men.Like Archie and Edith would say: Those Were The Days.
