Great for vegans
Nice to have a collagen option that is vegan friendly, as most collagens definitely aren't. That is specifically what I was looking for as the friend who I was getting it for is a vegan. As it turned out, she'd already got something so I ended up using it myself. It is one hundred percent plant-based and apparently mimics human collagen. In addition to the collagen it also contains amino acids and vitamin C.Worked well in my smoothies, but not so well just in water.I found it tasted fine, and didn't make my smoothie taste weird in any way.As well as being vegan friendly it is also free of gluten and GMOs.It isn't as cheap as conventional collagen supplements and powder, but that will be down to it being vegan friendly as I am sure the process of production and the ingredients used are completely different.

Sevenhills wholefood can be trusted.
I have used a number of products manufactured by Sevenhills, and found them all to be of good quality and value for money compared with other brands. As a vegan I was looking (as i age now 71) to find a good way of boosting collagen production for my skin blood vessels and teeth etc. Vegan collagen seems to be well absorbed so this is another plus point. As a non gmo, vegan, gluten free product, it works out at around £1 per day at current prices so well worth the investment in my view. This has a wide and comprehensive range of amino acids included helping to boost protein levels for us vegans....BRILLIANT!Then we come to the taste. I can honestly say that after using a variety of these kinds of powders to mix with plain water and every other kind of drink imaginable, this is the first powder that when mixed with water has not made me "shiver". It actually tastes GOOD! A slightly sweet flavour hides all the other tastes, and even better is there appears to be no artificial sweeteners in the product....Fantastic.All in all a mighty impressive addition to my daily health routine, and one i shall be sticking with for a long time. Like all these latest powders in comes in a resealable pouch which although good, can be a little tricky to open.

Tastes foul if not masked
On the bag it suggests adding this vegan collagen to protein shakes and the like. Unfortunately, I drink an unflavoured, unsweetened protein shake, so I had nothing to mask just how vile this tastes. Truly unpleasant, I couldn't get past the first sip. Who knows, maybe I got a bad batch...There also isn't very much in the bag. At the recommended dose, there are a maximum of 30 helpings. Right now I'm kind of seeing that as a blessing. This bag of vegan collagen is selling for £18.99, showing as reduced from £19.99, at the time of this review. To my mind that's a noticeable chunk of money for not a whole lot of product.

Noticed the benefits but made me suffer gluten reaction
I have used sevenhills before for different supplements so I was glad to see this collagen offer as I have tried collagen drinks before and enjoyed them.I am also glad no animals have suffered with this one being plant based only and vegan.I made it with roughly a teaspoon of water to make a paste first and could tell by the smell it was inedible. So followed the instructions on the packet that advise to put it with a smoothie or juice etc. I put mine with some orange juice and I couldn’t taste it hardly at all which was a surprise as the smell when I first made the paste, was strong.I enjoyed drinking it and within a minute I felt my skin felt less tense and more soothed, which I have noticed I always sense when I have had a collagen drink, so this works as well as animal produce collagen supplements based on my mini trial.Unfortunately I then had to throw the packet in the bin as I felt a few minutes after taking it, a subtle sensation of my gluten intolerance started. I then double checked the packaging and it doesn’t say there are any allergens in it. It listed something called ‘glutamine’ I have checked online and found there are two types of glutamine and one is purified enough to be gluten free, and the other may be derived from gluten grains and can contain potentially harmful gluten impurities. It would be good for them to know this when manufacturing as it did take a couple of hours for the effects to fully wear off, and while not life threatening is an inconvenience. I hadn’t eaten anything other than my breakfast that I have the same everyday so I know it was definitely what was in this causing my symptoms of gluten intolerance.

Actually effective
I’m only 31 but I’ve always had creaky joints just like the old folk. Never painful but audible definitely.I figured I should try some collagen for the first time as I know it’s really useful for joints and was very pleasantly surprised to notice a significant improvement from the first use. Fewer pops and creaks in my case which, to be honest, worries me about how lacking my body appears to be in collagen if a single dose improved it that much.I don’t like the taste though, hard for me to swallow so I just pinch my nose and gulp it quickly however I may be a bit picky as I have to do the same with most protein supplements or healthy powders so don’t necessarily take this as confirmation that it’s awfully tasting. Also worth mentioning that I’ve only had it with water and not part of a smoothie or any other delicious concoction.
