GreenView Fairway Formula Grass Seed Turf Type Tall Fescue Sun & Shade Blend, 5 lb Bag

THIS STUFF IS GOOD! Ok, well, it's definitely good as starting! I haven't had it over the summer yet, but it certainly germinated quickly and fully! NO BARE SPOTS!To be clear - I did prep and water. Prep: it was hard, bare dirt - and I roughed 100% of it with a garden weasel down about an inch. Then spread to direction (maybe a bit thin) with a push broadcast spreader, followed by a light rerun of the weasel to bury the seed. All done pre-frost in early fall (Zone 6a). I added NO fertilizer at all. No straw or any other type of cover. Watered daily if it didn't rain. Began seeing germination in a few DAYS! Within a week, had almost full germination - and by week two I had a short green carpet. It has wintered fantastically even through a VERY COLD month of constant below freezing HIGHS. Early spring it greened up before the rest of the lawn. And in a few weeks will probably be ready for a first cut.It is more expensive than some seed you can find out there...but when you consider the germination rate - the quality seed and, thus far, the LACK OF WEEDS, I am content paying a bit more. When it's time to overseed the lawn, or fill in other spots - GreenView will be my choice. Period.

This grass is amazing. A little TLC and it grew like crazy. I see some reviews where other customers were unhappy, but all it needs is a little care and it does great. Just a few simple steps and I have a beautiful new lawn:I scratched the soil (previous lawn, so no tilling needed) to a depth of 1.5 to 2"Spread a fertilizer formulated for new lawns according to the package instructionsSpread the seed as recommended on the packageLIGHTLY raked over the newly spread seedCovered the new seed with a straw mulch with tack (EZ straw)Hung out sparkly items and holographic ribbon to keep the birds from eating the seedsWatered with sprinkler on a timer- 10-15 minutes every 6 hours the first week, then every 8 hours the second week, then twice a day the third week.Voila! Gorgeous lawn,We planted in sections. The section nearest the fence was planted 14 days ago!

This is the quickest germinating grass seed I've ever used! Normally it takes 10-14 days to start to see results, but I had grass growing in 6-7 days. Beautiful, dark green grass. As one would expect, where I prepared the soil properly and watered according to directions, I had better results, but even with quick scratching of the surface and tossing on the seed, and with overseeding, I can see lush, green grass. As far as I can tell, there wasn't any weed seed included, either.

I could not be any more disappointed with this seed. I loosened the soil and worked it in. I covered it with hay. Guess what? Birds from everywhere descended on my property and ate all of the seeds. I will have to go back to using Pennington with Penkote because the birds do not seem to eat that seed. I hate the idea of going back to Pennington but I just spent a lot of money to feed the birds. Buyer beware.

What can you say about grass seed? Where I spread it, the lawn looks renewed. Where I used some other brands, not so much...

Love this seed. By day 4 or 5 I had a LOT of sprouts coming up. Key is watering. I have two areas, one I hand water daily and another that irrigation runs for a few minutes every three hours. Huge difference. Water it a few times a day until it starts sprouting and you will love the results

We purchased a property that was totally overgrown with Kudzu, English Ivy and Wisteria. After clearing each area we put down Greenview Fairway formula and lightly covered with straw. The results are stunning! People remark on the vibrant green. And, yes, it is very durable. Seed down last year came through heat and drought with no problem., plus stayed green throughout winter.

I am so pleased with the grass results with this product and on my third purchase. This is truly tall fescue turf, not the creeping low and flat grass that I sometimes find in turf seed products where other varieties are mixed in. In fact I had to redo areas of my lawn because the grass would lie flat do to creeping grass turf taking over. This is a fabulous product if you like an upright and beautiful, hardy green lawn that comes back year after year. Be patient as it takes about 2 weeks to sprout and fill in. Make sure you keep the seed moist with a light sprinkle ( not drowned out) at all times until germination. Like any seeding it requires that degree of attention.It really pays off. I am in zone 7.
