Beautiful and Functional for you bakers out there.
I discovered I really like leaving my butter out on the counter all the time a few years ago. I am a bread baker and it is so nice to already have soft butter to add to my bread recipes not to mention spreading on the bread once it is baked. Because I like the KerryGold Butter I have been using a small salad plate with a small bowl upturned on top of it for years. Needless to say this has not been the best solution but I could never find something large enough for the larger stick until now. I did hesitate due to the number of complaints about the lid fitting poorly. I must have lucked out because my lid fits perfectly in one direction and is only a little loopy the other direction. So my solution to that was to take some very light green fingernail polish and add the smallest dot to the rim of the lid and the bowl so they exactly match when you have the lid on correctly. I didn't tell any of the men in my household that is what it meant and days later asked and they said they figured it out by themselves. Problem solved. The lid is always on correctly and I have a wonderfully beautiful dish for my butter now with a lid that has a handle. The dish has a soft swirl design on the lid that is very pleasant to look at and will look great on my dining room table. I actually may buy a second one for guest and the dining room table since the price was so reasonable. I'd like to thank all those who did write all the five star reviews because they gave me the confidence to take a chance on this butter keeper. And I am glad I did.I did consider the butter keepers wtih the water below, but many said it was messy and the butter was always wet and those only housed one stick of butter which was not the best for my situation. This dish houses two sticks of regular sized butter side by side while still hard. We use out butter so fast we really don't have a problem though keeping it on the counter without the aid of water. I bake a lot. If we go away for a few days, it goes back in fridge or is not replaced for that period.

Perfect size very nice
I thought it was going to be a little bigger according to the images on Amazon, but it’s perfect sizeIt’s very nice, elegant, simple design the lid sits nicely on the dishI used to use a paper bowl with a paper plate on top which I would replace when it got really messy and then I thought maybe there’s something on Amazon and sure enough there wasOne picture shows my new butter dish beside my old systemI also took a picture of the butter on the inside. I keep my butter in the wrapper to minimize messing up the dish.I tried a butter bell, but that didn’t work for me. I couldn’t change the water frequently enough. I don’t like the other flat dishes because the butter gets all over the lid. I’ve ordered some butter knives. I used to use a regular knife, but it was huge I think the new butter knife will be able to sit in the dish. I’ll post a picture.

Nice dish for the price
ordered this butter dish after looking around for quite sometime trying to find a replacement for our crappy one. I like it. It is nice and deep. The lid doesn't touch the butter. The butter will stay inside the dish no matter who in the house uses it. It is a little wider than I expected. It can fit two full sticks. I am not complaining, I didn't really look closely at the dimensions. And it will probably be nice to find that I have butter more often than I am used to because I can keep more in here.Lid issues have been voiced by other reviewers. I have found that mine sits better one way more than the other way. I had to play with it a little bit to figure this out. It still isn't a locking fit where it won't move at all. But it doesn't slide as much.It is nice looking. I love having a handle to grab. So far the lid seems sturdy. It's a nice dish at a nice price.I usually don't comment too much on the packaging in my product reviews because there is a review specifically for packaging. But this one surprised me. When I opened the box I found bubble wrap around another box. An rather nice looking gift type box. Then I open that and the lid and base were wrapped nicely in colored paper. It was just done very well. It made me feel like the product is worth more than I paid for it.

Who doesn't love soft spreadable butter at your fingertips?
When you get one that fits nicely it is great. The first one I purchased did not fit snug enough, leaving an undesirable gap. I mean, that's the whole point of a top. Quick and easy to return the other and repurchase a new one. This fits about 4 sticks of butter. My family prefers the kerrygold brand, I will let it soften a bit before putting it into dish. Use a flexible spatula to even it out and take out any messyiness. The looks is simple. The color is a nice white. Suits nicely onto any tablecloth or counter. I feel silly for waiting so long to purchase a butter container. We keep it out on kitchen counter, move it around when needed. Keeps butter nice, soft and tasty!

No seal or grove to stay in place
The ceramic butter dish was very nice, the size was perfect, but there was no type of seal for the top to stay onto the dish itself. Seemed like an accident waiting to happen with the lid sliding right off.

Useful and Attractive
I like this butter dish quite a lot. We have Mikasa's Italian Countryside dinnerware Mikasa Italian Countryside 45-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 8 and while it is not an exact match (I'm glad it's not,) this butter dish looks nice with our dishes. I may get the Sophie Conran large salad bowl as well. The function of the butter dish is what initially attracted me. We keep our butter out on the counter top, which caused the covers on traditional butter dishes to get messy as we cover the soft butter. This dish keeps the butter in the deep receptacle, which can hold two sticks, and covers with the flat lid. The lid is NOT a tight fit and would slide off if tilted. It looks very nice out on my counter.

Misshapen Lid, Poorly Made
The lid was completely misshapen causing it to not sit properly on the base. There were large gaps around the edges. I expected more for an over $20 butter dish.
