this is a great set and value. purchased to teach merit badge class for boy scouts.There are no seams. no rattles. feel great in hand. like any ever used in a tournament. compared side by side to sons university club set in a much nicer bag, but the pieces in this USCF set are of same mold but do not have seams that we can feel or see.very nice. Board is tournament quality like any ever used in a tournament. Heavy vinyl.

Really nice set, one of the best deals on here. I was so glad I got the triple weight, it was well worth it. Now you can play outside in wind. The pieces are large and heavy. You even get extra queens. The bag for it is a bit tight, you need to load in the board and then put the pieces in the middle to make it fit, but when you remove them you need to dump out the pieces and then remove the board. I would like to be able to remove the board and put the pieces on it, but it is too tight for that.

The board and the pieces are both very well weighted. It's an excellent set for the price. The main reason for the 5 start rating though is the customer service. When I received it, one of the rooks had a chip. I requested a new one. I failed to specify that it was a triple-weighted piece and they immediately sent out the correct one. I'll be sure to go back to House on Staunton for my next chess set.

I like the convenience of the carry bag and the roll up, large game board and the size and weight and look of the pieces. The board unrolls and lies flat, so unless you squash it or crease it, it works well. I put the rolled up board in the bag first (it unzips on the round end) and then the pieces inside the hollow of the rolled up board in the bag. I tried keeping the pieces in the zip lock bags they came in but the bags didn't hold up long. I did have the pieces bite into the board a couple times to leave dent marks, but so far no permanent damage. The plastic pieces are cheap feeling and I fear they may break. One rook was broken when I received the set but I was able to return it for another set. The bag is cheap. It does the job but I don't expect it to last long. The zipper isn't high quality and the stitching isn't great. I would prefer if the pieces were more robust to breakage and the mat was thicker and less susceptible to damage, and I would prefer a better quality bag, but I haven't found such set offered for sale. Still, I prefer this set to much more expensive and bulky sets with wood boxes and very poor quality, lightweight wood pieces. If you playing at a table this set is fine. If I'm playing on a train or plane or in a car or where the board may get bumped then I definitely will use a magnetic set.

I was so happy to find this set. I personally love vinyl boards. They are reminiscent of the board games we would make for ourselves growing up and there is something satisfying about rolling out a board. The color is vibrant and the pieces are heavy. It's a large board with good size pieces for the board which my young (and clumsy) son can easily manipulate.

This is a great chess set for the price point. Vinyl board is good quality and stays flat and the pieces are weighted and feel really good. The size of the board and pieces makes it easy to see what is going on. Even if the price point wasn't quite as good, I think this is still a great set to own. The quiver holds everything easily and I can't imagine how you would really damage the board or the pieces.

Couldn't tell any difference from tournament sets. Maybe this is the one they use.
