Protein suitable for a puppy. Good value, too.
We recently adopted a Pomeranian puppy after our beloved senior dog (also a Pomeranian) passed away unexpectedly. While we had a bag of Natural Balance Vegetarian Formula dog food on hand, the protein content was not high enough for a growing puppy. I searched on Amazon for vegan puppy food but I had little luck. I only found one. It was both expensive and out of stock. So, I searched for a vegan adult formula with a protein content suitable for a growing puppy. That's when I discovered this vegan dog food from Walk About Pet. The protein content in Walk About Pet's adult vegan formula is suitable for growing puppies, although the fat content is a bit low. This can easily be solved by adding a little coconut oil to the kibble. This formula is a better value than many other brands and the nutritional value is high, as well. The kibble is the right size for a small breed dog or large breed puppy with bigger teeth, but the kibble is a bit hard for a small breed puppy with tiny teeth to handle. I soak the kibble for just a minute or two in a little hot water and about a 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil, then drain it before putting it into our puppy's dish. This softens it and adds the needed fat without making it soggy. Koda does not like his dry food 'gravy consistency' but he takes it this way just fine. Once it dries out, the kibble remains easy enough for him to chew, since it's less dense. If he doesn't finish his food, I just pop it into the dehydrator and save it for later. Once his adult teeth come in, he'll be able to eat it with less prep.We still mix small amounts of the Natural Balance into our pup's dish so that it doesn't go to waste. He does seem to prefer the Natural Balance just slightly, but as he does well with this one, I don't expect we'll switch back any time soon. For starters, this food meets his nutritional needs as a growing puppy and will do so while he's a young adult. We had also run into problems with Natural Balance often being out of stock online and most of our local pet stores stopped carrying recently making it more difficult to find. For an older dog that needs a lower protein content, I would choose Natural Balance Vegetarian Formula if it's readily available. It's what we chose with our previous dog when he was young, as he had a complete intolerance to any animal-based ingredients and there weren't many options on the market at the time. He loved it, thrived on it and it was easy to find at the time. We began looking for an alternative due to limited availability after moving, along with rising prices, but he unexpectedly left us before we found one. I expect that we'll stick with this vegan kibble from Walk About Pet while Koda is a puppy and young adult, as long as it remains readily available and prices remain reasonable.

My dog loves this! Gone in 60 seconds.
We’ve used various vegan & non vegan formulas but this one is her favorite and though still more expensive than most non vegan formulas, still very reasonable. Appreciate the high protein content & ingredients. Please don’t discontinue this formula. Also would appreciate a discount price for autopay.

A+ My dog likes it!
My dog is a picky eater sometimes but he likes this food. He'll eat it dry, as is, but I usually mix it with home cooked wet dog food as well. I've bought several bags over the past year or so and have been trying to order more but it always seams to be sold out. I hope they start selling it again. It's greatly missed!

Walk About Pet Vegan Dry Dog Food 7 lbs.
Walk About Pet Vegan Dry Dog Food 7 lbs.: Got this to replace HSD Derm Complete ordered through the vet that is running late. OK with my dog's digestive system in an introductory amount. It also smells better than a lot of dry dog food and doesn't have a huge list of weird additives.A combination of Derm Complete, with other brands of vegetarian and salmon and pumpkin dry dog foods and a teaspoon of canned food with water to make a gravy seem to work best for my whippet mix, i.e., no diarrhea or inordinate scratching and chewing. The Derm Complete was prescribed for the scratching and chewing, but as she's gotten older, she's gotten sensitive to poultry, which is in a lot of dry dog food, so I tried vegetarian/vegan, and the combination seems to work.

My border collie loves it
When my puppy first came home, he still had one bag of non-vegan food left from his breeder. I decided to put his non vegan food next to this vegan food, expecting him to stick with what he was used to. To my surprise, he immediately chose the vegan option and ignored his previous food! As a vegan myself and with my husband being vegetarian, we were prepared for some digestive issues as he adjusted to his new diet. However, our puppy had no issues at all! I tried another brand of vegan food, which he enjoyed, but unfortunately, it gave him diarrhea. So, we have decided to stick with this vegan food that he happily eats without any tummy troubles.I recommend! He is now 5 months old and have been eating only Walk about! I have only one complain, if they could change the canola oil for coconut oil would be much better!
