If you connect the USB hub to a PC via USB Swith, this will weaken the transmission signal of the USB device and may cause problems such as interruption of the connection.

Will it supply the power from mains to the connected devices if the hub is not connected to the computer?

If I disconnect the feed from the computer into the hub and power on a USB drive connected to the hub then the power light on the drive does light up.
