Effective product, neat and tidy appearance
Decided to install this rather than an island chimney-type extractor over my peninsula breakfast bar hob. Was unsure at first due to the extra cost but it was worth the investment, time and effort getting it up into the ceiling. Got it ducting to outside using rectangular ducting and a brick-shaped vent. I happened to buy my extractor direct from Modern Living and I wasn't sure about them as I'd not heard of them before but delivery was very quick and efficient. Really happy with it so far and it comes with a tidy remote control, although to change the colour of the LEDs you need to touch and hold the light button on the extractor then press 3 to cycle through the colours until you get the one you want. I wouldn't say it illuminates your hob very well as it's more of a decorative feature but most people have adequate lighting in modern kitchens anyway. I had to carefully build a frame for mine out of some 2 x 1" planed timber from my local timber yard, this was because I had 15mm central heating pipes running below the floor above so I needed to drop it down slightly. Comes with a plug fitted so just add a socket to the end of your lighting power supply cable and plug it in. For the ducting side it has an outlet for 220 x 90 rectangular but I adapted mine with a reducer as the ducting I had put in was 204 x 60, but Kair sell these on Amazon, I also used a flexi pipe on the ducting so I could just push it together when I offered the extractor up to the ceiling. This was a 2 man job as its not light, rested it on a hop up on my (protected) counter top while I connected up. Unbranded so your visitors won't know its not a more expensive make! Some reviews on the Modern Living site said that it's not the quietest but it's a lot quieter than any of the chimney hoods I've had in the past, but just to make sure it didn't disturb my son's bedroom above I glued a sheet of Tecsound mass loaded vinyl to the underside of the floor and seeing as I had a slight void above I used a thin layer of 50mm rockwool sound mat held up with netting above it. The frame I built for it also helps to support the extractor brackets. Hope it gives us plenty of years of service🤞
