⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This book has sold millions of copies and has been translated into over a hundred languages—and rightfully so. First published in 1923, The Prophet still holds up today as a beautiful work of literary art.Told in 26 short prose-poem chapters, it follows the prophet Al Mustafa in the city of Orphalese. As he prepares to depart on the ship that will carry him home, the people of Orphalese gather to seek his wisdom on a variety of life’s deepest topics. The lyrical prose is elegant and evocative, painting vivid pictures with words. The edition I read also featured Kahlil Gibran’s artwork, which is fantastic—hauntingly beautiful and fluid.I listened to the audiobook version while reading along over several days as a way to slowly process and immerse myself in the text. Though short in page length, it is rich and weighty in message.A beautiful masterpiece and a must-read for any literary enthusiast.Favorite quotes:“The timeless in you is aware of life's timelessness. And knows that yesterday is but today's memory and tomorrow is today's dream.”“Love one another, but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.”“And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair”“In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things, does the heart find its morning and is refreshed.”My enjoyment 5+/5

Insightful and Inspiring
As a prophet seeks to leave a city, he leaves last words of treasure to the people on the shoreline city. His teaching are poignant and applicable today. He expounds in prose on many requested topics to help us be kinder to ourselves and our neighbor as well as strangers. This is a short powerful read.

Bad customer service from Amazon
Product as described but Amazon has no control over delivery of orders….those incompetent and neglectful drivers left it, and many other deliveries, out in the weather and items were rained on and ruined.

Beautiful touching and deeply inspiring
I’ve heard of Khalil Gibran but this was my first experience reading of his work. I look forward to reading the rest of his imaginative poetic and very evocative words. They touch my soul and feel like love notes from beyond. It’s simply beautiful.

Thin see through pages
Thin pages and bent corners galore. It’ll do for the first read

Gorgeous edition
I bought this as a gift for my mom. She's never read Gibran, and I think she'll find deep meaning in his work as a spiritual person. The golds and blues on the cover are beautiful, and the binding is sturdy. "And stand together, yet not too near together: For the pillars of the temple stand apart, And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow."
