I have had 3 different phones, all with the same style case and the case is perfect.
It is the only case for a phone I will buy, it is fully protected. It has slight ridges around the phone screen and around the camera so if you drop it on anything flat, it will smash the case not your phone. It also has a rubber lining to where you can grip it with your hand very well it does however pull your pockets inside out when you take the phone out but small price to pay.

Would recommend
Nice thick case. Wish it had better protection around camera side control though.

Best Option for Maximum Protection (but not as good as Defender cases for previous iPhones)
I've bought an OtterBox Defender case for every phone I've had starting with my BlackBerry. I love the signature Defender design consisting of (1) a hard case that snaps to the front and back of the phone and surrounds the entire phone and (2) a silicone layer around the entire hard case on the outside, such that the entire phone is protected with both a hard layer and a silicone layer, with the silicone on the outside providing maximum grip and minimizing the chance of accidentally dropping the phone. That design has carried over to the OtterBox Defender for the iPhone 16 Pro. Unfortunately, this case has two weaknesses (described below) that made me look for an alternative. But after an exhaustive search, I could not find any better options, and so I decided to stick with the OtterBox Defender for my iPhone 16 Pro.Strengths:1. Strong, solid case should offer great drop protection (unless you just happen to drop it on an edge in such a way that the phone manages to hit something in the cut out for the Camera Control)2. Interior plastic shell protects the back, corners, and sides of the phone (but doesn't protect the screen at the location of the large cut out for the Camera Control)3. Exterior silicone layer covers the entire back, corners, and sides of the phone (except at the location of the cut out for the Camera Control), providing both protection and a great grip4. Unlike most cases that just snap onto the back of the phone, the OtterBox Defender has (1) a plastic frame consisting of a front piece and a back piece that snap together with the iPhone 16 Pro inside, and (2) a silicone cover that goes on top of the plastic frame. The result is that the case is much more securely attached to the iPhone, and it is practically impossible for it to pull away from the edges or snap off accidentally.Weaknesses:1. The plastic shell barely extends above the screen on the sides (but it does extend more at the top and bottom), providing only very minimal screen protection. The design would be greatly improved if the plastic shell extended farther above the screen on the sides as it does on the top and bottom. (The OtterBox Defender XT for the iPhone 16 Pro does have a plastic shell that extends above the screen on all four sides, but it doesn't have a silicone back and part of the sides are plastic instead of silicone over plastic frame all of the way around.)2. The case has a HUGE cut out for the Camera Control. Although it makes it easy to use the Camera Control, there is NOT protection for the side of the phone or the screen in that area. The design would be much better if the plastic frame extended across the front of the screen next to the Camera Control like it does no the back side. .... It would have been even better if OtterBox had designed a Camera Control button like you find in the Spine Tough Armor T (Ai) case or the SUPCASE Unicorn Beetle Mag case.Overall, I think this is the best option for the iPhone 16 Pro if you're looking for a case that maximizes drop protection and provides an excellent grip. ... But I hope OtterBox or someone else makes a case that has the same strengths listed above but fixes the weaknesses listed above. That would be a 5 star case.

Outstanding Otterbox!!
I drop my phone more than I can count and the OtterBox iPhone 16 Defender has protected it every time! It is high quality. I went with OtterBox because I had a cheaper product that broke. OtterBox is much more durable. You get what you pay for. It’s well worth the investment. The one design feature I love the most is the precision-designed opening. Easy access to the camera and provides a comfortable place to put your fingers when holding your iPhone.

Generic case preferable?
I have a good bit of loyalty to otterbox, as out of every brand I’ve used, they’ve always been reliable and durable. My friends and family recommended me to them and I felt the quality was worth the price. This particular case however hasn’t upheld the same standard. Within a year of buying it, my back glass is cracked near my camera. I attribute this to the fact that a camera protector doesn’t fit with this case. My screen protector also cracks far more frequently with this case than with previous iterations. Finally, the case itself cracked near the bottom right multi-function button. Overall, I give the case a three star rating, as it is a case, but it doesn’t live up to the otterbox reputation and certainly isn’t worth the price point.
