They are much larger than the stock J-frame grips and they're very comfortable, but conceal-ability goes out the window
First off: these are not the grips in the photo. The actual grips are Presentation Compac. They are much larger than the stock J-frame grips and they're very comfortable, but conceal-ability goes out the window, negating the point of a J-frame. The last point I would make is that they don't seal around the front of the grip quite right (covers backstrap with solid wrap-around, seam on front-strap). It doesn't affect grip nor function, just a little OCD aesthetic. Haven't decided if they're going back yet. They DO feel really nice to handle. Can't hide them and if I'm not practicing with the equipment I'm using there's no point to using it. They DO feel nice, though...

Great balance between size and recoil absorption
As noted in one of the questions, the picture is not correct. First, it's a Ruger, not a S&W J Frame square butt gun. And the grip shown is not the one you'll get if you order from this page. Also, the spelling is wrong - this model of Pachmayr grip is called the "Compac" - no "t" in there. What you WILL get looks like the one Amazon shows for the S&W J Frame round butt - it has a small "notch" at the bottom of the grip which fits the pinky finger nicely. That said, this is a terrific grip for a J frame if you want something that absorbs recoil but isn't too big to conceal. I've use one for years on a round butt 38, and this one is for a square butt 32 H&R Magnum that started to get tiresome after 50 rounds or so. This grip IS bigger than the boot grips that come standard on many of the guns today, and bigger than the wooden Magna/service grips that used to be standard - it covers/cushions the backstrap, and extends below the grip frame to provide a place for the pinky finger, so it HAS to be bigger. It is also a bit heavy - not a lot, but you will notice the difference from a standard grip. But it still makes for a concealable gun, if that's what you want. Just maybe not as easy to drop in a regular pants pocket as a minimalist boot gripThe stickiness of the rubber that has been mentioned, goes away with use - hand oils, powder/smoke residue from shooting, gun cleaning fluids, and just the atmosphere, all work to reduce the tackiness you will notice with a brand new grip. If you absolutely can't wait, you could use some talcum powder on the new rubber, but I wouldn't recommend it. Take the gun out and shoot it. A lot. You'll be able to do that, because this grip absorbs a lot of the recoil that makes J frames uncomfortable (for me, at least) to shoot for long sessions.

Good quality and comfortable.
I bought these to replace the original grips on a S&W Model 31 square butt. Fit is great. There iis a gap in the front grp frame, very small, but it is even and looks clean. its really not noticeable to me. These are a giant improvement from the originals. They should conceal fine, although that's not why I bought them. They make shooting it much more enjoyable due to a better and correct hold.

2 arrived with factory defect
I ordered the first one and it arrived with the nut the mounting screw goes into cockeyed in the grip. The screw was also cross threaded into the nut from the factory. Did an Amazon exchange. The second one arrived the same way. You would expect better quality control from Pachmayr, and a grip costing almost $40. I had to use pair of pliers to get the nut off and re-thread it- scratching the paint. Once on the pistol, it is very comfortable and provides a good grip. The product needs a better design.

Fits....but A LITTLE off.
it does fit, for the most part... but there is some extra rubber over-mold, gaps, etc., pros: very comfortable, practical, cons: set screw is a little wonky. not a perfect flush fit on J frame sq. butt. Def. serviceable...but the fit is kinda goofy. I have a mid 70's S&W model 36 square butt...again it works but the fit is a little off. I trust it, feel over wood stock grips is superior, but don't expect a perfect fit. MAKES for a more secure, grip-able carry weapon....bottom line.

2big
These are to big and going back. They were to replace my 1980 Pmyers that lost the female screw part. These are 0.5 times bigger and interfere with concealment.
